  • Is my water safe to drink?

This is one of the most common concerns for well owners (very understandably!). Your well consists of its own unique water chemistry that can cause issues in your home/plumbing from pinhole leaks to staining to serious health concerns. We strongly urge all private well system owners to get their water tested, whether you drink the water or not. No matter what issues you have, here at Mad River Well Services our technicians can address all your concerns with the water that you drink and make certain that it is safe for you and your family!

  • Should I have my water tested?

Absolutely! From new homeowners to those who haven’t moved in years, it's always important to know your well’s chemistry whether you drink the water or not. Health concerns can be present in your system even if you aren’t drinking the water that it produces. We offer a wide array of tests from basic profiles of your water to very specific tests such as arsenic, uranium, and radon.

  • What should I have my water tested for?

If you’ve never had your water tested before, we recommend doing what’s called a standard profile on your water. This test covers all the major issues that we experience here in CT including radon in water, bacteria, arsenic, uranium, and lead along with other various metals and nonmetals that can be present in your system, including TDS (total dissolved solids), iron, and sodium. We will gladly help you with individual tests as well if you have a specific contaminant that you want to test for.

  • Where is my well located?

Understanding where your well is located on your property is an important thing to know and can save you time/money when it comes to needing well work done. Depending on what type of well you have and when it was drilled, your well head either protrudes above the grade, was hand-dug, or is buried on your property. It is still common in Connecticut to find wells that are buried with no visible signs at ground level as to their location. Mad River Well Services has the most up-to-date equipment needed to provide you with well location services!

  • Does my well produce enough water?

Every well has a different recovery rate. With that being said, CT has well storage capacity requirements that need to be met in order for a home to be deemed suitable for occupancy. Following standards from the Department of Public Health, we have the equipment necessary to ensure we give you an accurate recovery test.

  • How do I know what filtration I will need?

Filtration recommendations are based on the water quality. A test of your well water will reveal what filtration is needed/recommended at your house. If you’re new to a home or have problems going on with your water, have us come out today to test it so we can resolve your issues!

  • What system do I currently have in place at my house?

Filtration will vary from house to house. If you have any questions about what filtration you currently have, our technicians can come out and take a look!

  • What is a well inspection? Should I get one done before I buy a house?

Well inspections are an entire overview of your well system, from determining the recovery rate of your well to analyzing what system you currently have in place and how well it performs. Having a well inspection done before you purchase a home is always recommended along with testing the water. Having an expert come out to analyze your private well could save you thousands of dollars on a home that you are looking at.

  • Does my system require annual service?

For almost every well system out there it is recommended to have a licensed technician come out and service whatever filtration you may have. Most systems have components that need to be replenished or replaced, filters that need to be changed, or fittings that need to be cleaned to ensure your system functions properly.

Additionally, we take measurements to monitor the general health of your well pump and storage tanks. Having an annual service done prolongs the lifespan of your equipment and can save you from costly expenses that are avoidable with proper maintenance.
